One of the ways I have come to completely trust that the Bible is the Word of God is the way It continues to teach me things that I didn’t see before. Many of you know exactly what I am talking about. We can read a certain text several times and not see certain things and then the next time we read it we scratch our head wondering how we didn’t see that before.
This morning as I read John 20 the Lord gave me a couple things I was hoping to share with you.
Jesus moves obstacles. Why? That we may believe, and trust Him. He moves obstacles that we would believe the Scriptures and put our complete faith in Him as our Lord and Savior. To illustrate this let’s take a look at 1 verse that is so easy to zip by and we may have done just that many times; John 20:1.
John 20:1 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.
We know from other texts that Jesus didn’t need the stone rolled away so He could get out of the tomb; so why did He do it? He did it not only for Mary Magdalene, not only for the other disciples, but for all of us that we would see and hear that Jesus Christ is risen, that we would believe the Scripture and trust in the King of kings.
The question then becomes; what obstacles are in your way, that are keeping you from surrendering your life to Christ? Call out to Him until He opens your eyes to the Truth.
Have you ever used the word “NEVER”. So did Thomas. After being told by the other disciples that they have seen the risen Christ, Thomas said, “I will NEVER…”
John 20:25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.”
Jesus showed Thomas and Thomas spent the rest of his life preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ until they killed him for it. What is it you want to see or you “will never believe”? Call out to Him until He opens your eyes to the Truth.
